The Mueganos by Jaque Jours

The way the author weaves the candy-making process into the family story made me crave a real muégano while reading. It’s a sweet, warm read that stayed with me long after I finished.

This book’s description of the muégano candy—those fried wheat squares glued with honey—had me craving one while reading about the family’s sticky-sweet history. The way the story weaves that treat into their bonds made the whole thing feel warm and personal. Finished it in one sitting.

I was pleasantly surprised by how the honey glue in the story actually made me crave the real candy. The family bond theme is sweet but not overly sentimental, which I appreciated. Only wish the book had a few more details about the candy-making process itself.
