VILAC Ingela P. Arrhenius - 我的第一盤西洋棋

The board's size is perfect for small hands to reach across without knocking pieces over, and the artwork makes each piece feel special. My daughter was drawn in by the colorful illustrations before she even knew how the knights moved.

My 6-year-old just beat me for the first time, and I think the large, sturdy board and chunky wooden pieces made it easy for his little hands to focus. The illustrations by Ingela P. Arrhenius are a nice touch too, it's a beautiful set that feels more like a toy than a game.

The artwork by Ingela P. Arrhenius is what sold me—it's so much more playful than the usual plain wooden sets. My only small gripe is the pieces are a bit light and slide easily if the table gets bumped, but for a first chess game it's just right.
