Cyanotype / Au clair de la lune by Djeco

Cyanotype / Au clair de la lune by Djeco - Main image
$26.4 $44 In stock

This magical activity is based on a photographic process: cyanotype. Using opaque patterns, you can create designs on photosensitive paper. When exposed to sunlight, a negative of the patterns is produced on the paper. Then, all you need to do is rinse the paper in a clean water bath and watch as the design appears on the blue background! These creations are then the night scenes forming backgrounds for the 4 poetic pictures and their illustrations.

A simplified activity with no need to mix chemicals!
A whole new approach to illustration by printing patterns on acetate film!
  A magical, poetic activity.
  Each creation is unique.
An activity to repeat again and again thanks to paper refills for cyanotype (sold separately).
Elegant laser-cut frames to turn each creation into a real masterpiece!
  1 step-by-step instruction booklet.

Aurora T. ★★★★★

My kids were fascinated watching the paper turn blue under the sun—the reaction is almost instant on a bright day. The included patterns let them make clean, sharp silhouettes, which felt like real science.

Edward ★★★★★

The sunlight exposure part is so satisfying—watching the paper turn deep blue while the shapes stay white felt like magic. The opaque patterns are sturdy and easy to position, even for my seven-year-old. We're already on our second set.
