Het kind van de Gruffalo van Julia Donaldson

My four-year-old insists on this one every night—the Gruffalo’s Child sneaking through the snowy woods feels even more magical than the original. The illustrations are darker and moodier, which makes the flashlight-under-the-blanket read-alouds so much fun.

The rhyming is as clever as the original, and the pop-up illustrations on each page had my three-year-old gasping. This is a gorgeous, sturdy board book that we've already read five times tonight.

The rhyming rhythm is absolutely spot-on for keeping little listeners engaged during read-aloud time, and the illustrations are just as charming as the original. It’s a solid sequel, though I do wish the pages were a bit sturdier for the toddler crowd.
