ふくれっ面の魚 - デボラ・ディーゼン、ダン・ハンナ絵

My toddler insists on reading this every single night—the way the illustrations capture Mr. Fish's gloomy expression cracks us up every time. The rhythmic read-aloud flow makes it easy to keep the story moving even when I'm half-asleep.

My three-year-old already has the whole "permanent pout" line memorized after just a few readings, and the rhyming rhythm makes it so much fun to read aloud. The illustrations are wonderfully expressive, especially Mr. Fish's grumpy face.

The rhyming text is really catchy, and the illustrations have so much detail that my kid notices something new each time. I just wish the board book version was a little sturdier for rough toddler hands.
