The silicone is so soft and flexible that it survived my toddler's aggressive fork stabbing without a single scratch. The silicone is so soft that my toddler can chew on the bowl edge without hurting her gums, and the whole set just wipes clean after every meal. It survived three drops onto the tile floor this week without a scratch, which is exactly what I needed for a wiggly eater.
